KIDS KARATE

We offer specialized classes for children with your child's best interests in mind. Our syllabus is designed to give your child personal development skills that they can apply for their overall life success. Our classes actively compliment and promote your child's achievement in all other activities, and we focus on inspiring a strong sense of self esteem and self worth in all our students.

The American publication "Psychology Today" concluded that students with one year's martial arts training are more socially intelligent, feel lower levels of anxiety, and have an increased sense of responsibility and self esteem.

Our Kiaido Ryu martial arts exercise routines build your child's health and fitness levels in the three key areas: cardio-vascular fitness, strength, and flexibility. This also enhances their performance in any other chosen sport or activity.

Our Kiaido Ryu Martial Arts routines greatly assist in the development of your child's mental powers. They have a more beneficial on-going effect, but are similar to accelerated learning "Brain Gym" exercises. This development occurs through the activation and integration of both the right and left hemispheres of the brain; facilitating ‘whole-brain' learning.

Parents are often concerned that society has moved further away from teaching children self discipline, respect for others, inner strength, and personal values. Perhaps that is why we see so many children troubled with a low sense of self worth and lack of direction.
From training together students get a very positive form of peer reinforcement that supports their moral judgment and integrity.

Kiaido Ryu is a non-competitive martial art. We promote a mind-set that focuses on: personal excellence and achievement, increased confidence, the elimination of fears and limited beliefs, and the setting and achievement of goals; all of theses are important keys to personal fulfillment and to realizing the student's fullest potential.

We encourage family participation in a supportive environment. An important emphasis in our classes is on cooperation and helping one another to achieve, to gain skills, and to progress up through the ranks. Parents are most welcome to attend and watch their child's classes.

Classes cover the three key elements of Kiaido Ryu Martial Arts:

1. Self Defence: Includes Modern Self Defence, Traditional Karate, Pressure Point Self Defence, Traditional Martial Arts Weapons, Grappling, and Groundfighting. This provides your child with the skills and strategies to be able to defend themselves in all types of self defence situations. The mind side of Kiaido Ryu Martial Arts also provides children with alternative non-violent strategies as their very first line of self defence.

2. Self Mastery Training: Incorporates "Warrior Wisdom" lessons that encourage a positive approach to life and ‘I Can' thinking. These lessons develop the motivation and abilities needed to lead a purposeful goal-oriented life, giving the students many techniques to develop their inner “Warrior Spirit” and their ability to cope with life's challenges.

3. Internal Arts: Kiaido Ryu Martial Arts Students also learn ‘Qigong' internal energy exercises, and progressive relaxation meditation and calming techniques. These help to optimize their health and energy and provide them with greater coping skills.

Recent studies have shown that a few months of meditation greatly improves attention and lowers stress. Researchers now believe that even one weeks practice of integrative body-mind meditation produces noteworthy improvements in attention and state of mind.

Students developed a greater attention span and improved overall mood. They have lower levels of anxiety, depression, anger and fatigue, compared with students in a control group.

The Kiaido Ryu Martial Arts Body/Mind training incorporated into regular classes includes breathing techniques, progressive relaxation, positive affirmation and creative visualization. All these skills result in a wide spectrum of positive effects in attention, emotions, social behaviors, and goal achievement.

Through meditation we also train ourselves to be more compassionate. We can cultivate compassion and kindness through the effects of meditation on our brains or minds.

Studies at the University of Wisconsin showed that positive emotions such as loving kindness and compassion can be learned in the same way as playing a musical instrument, or being proficient at a sport. Scans revealed that brain circuits used to detect emotions and feelings were dramatically changed in subjects who had extensive experience practicing compassion meditation.

Children who engage in bullying and people prone to recurring depression greatly benefit from such practices
